Kacey Musgraves is officially stepping into a new chapter, and fans got their first real look at what’s coming next.
The Texas native announced her upcoming album, Middle of Nowhere, set for release on May 1, 2026. It will be her first full-length project since 2024’s Deeper Well.
Along with the announcement, Musgraves revealed the full 13-track lineup, and it didn’t take long for fans to start connecting the dots. The album features a mix of high-profile collaborations, including Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, Billy Strings, and Gregory Alan Isakov.
That lineup alone is fueling speculation that this project could lean more into country and Americana influences, something longtime listeners have been eager to hear more of.
She also gave fans a preview of what’s ahead with the release of the lead single, “Dry Spell,” which dropped alongside a new music video. The song marks the official start of this next phase in her career.
In the lead-up, Musgraves rolled out a creative teaser campaign, using billboards and even a phone number fans could call to hear a snippet of the track. It didn’t take long for that to catch fire online.
Musgraves has said the album came out of a period of personal reflection and independence, themes that are expected to carry throughout the record.
The full album is still a couple months out, but between the track list and those featured collaborations, there’s already plenty of buzz — especially around the pairing with fellow Texan Miranda Lambert and a feature from Willie Nelson.
